MT Veronica was seized Jan. 15, 2026, by U.S. forces.

U.S. Southern Command image A U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement detachment and a team of Marines took control of an oil tanker early Thursday in the Caribbean, marking the sixth vessel apprehended since the Trump administration announced a quarantine on Venezuelan oil shipments last month.

Marines and sailors launched from USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) to take control of MT Veronica , U.S. Southern Command said in a Thursday social media post shared to X.

Veronica , a Venezuela-linked oil tanker sailing under a Guyana flag, was seized without incident. U.S. forces seized Veronica as part of a quarantine on sanctioned vessels transporting Venezuelan oil that was imposed in December.
